PUHINUI THREE DAY EVENT 2012
- HUNTER DERBY CLASSES
CHANGE OF FORMAT FOR THE DERBY CLASSES
Due to popular demand the format for the four Derby classes and the Team Open Derby Challenge has been changed.
This year the course will still consist of a set number of cross country and show jumps but will be confined to a smaller taped off area. It will again include the famous Puhinui bank.
Judging will follow the show jumping model, that is marks will be gained for faults such as stopping or dropping a rail. This competition will not be judged like a show hunter class.
There will be an untimed round and a timed jump off for each of the four classes. The jump off will be over a shortened course and will follow on immediately after each clear round. You will receive a second bell if you have gone clear, to commence your jump off while still in the ring.
The four classes will be run in the following order with a 10am start :-
Class Seven 80cm 16 years and under
Class Eight 80cm 17 years and over
Class Nine 95cm 16 years and under
Class Ten 95cm 17 years and over
Class Eleven the Team Open Derby Challenge, is entered on the day, prior to the commencement of the competition. Make up your team before the event, on the day from whoever is around and/or nominate yourself to the Derby Secretary on the day to get put in to a composite team. Each team members scores will be combined from classes seven to ten, with the top three scores counted.
Horses tack – there will be no gear restrictions for derby classes.
Riders attire – it is expected that jackets and jodhpurs and riding boots will be worn to a similar standard for show jumping or hunting.
